Fall Newport RI Engagement Session at Sweet Berry Farm with Caitlin and Chris

January 20, 2016

By Mariah Ashley

I’m really excited to blog Caitlin and Chris’ Fall Newport RI Engagement Session! The holidays took over a bit and things got a little crazy as they always do which left this amazingly adorable session waiting patiently for it’s turn to shine. I was so happy today when it came up in the blog queue!

Caitlin and Chris are getting married this April in Newport at the very posh Rosecliff Mansion. They will surely have gorgeous spring-time photos so it was fun and fitting to do something completely different for their engagement session. Caitlin loved the idea of a fall farm theme so we met up in Newport at Sweet Berry Farm. Have you ever been to Sweet Berry Farm? Go now! The address is: 19 3rd Beach Road. Seriously, plug it into your navigation and hit the road! It’s so festive and fun!

You can pick your own berries, peaches, apples, flowers, and pumpkins depending on the season. There’s also a market which is sort of an old fashioned general store and a cafe with delicious homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. I always pick up a home baked pie when I’m there! In the summer there are even concerts with catered gourmet picnics.

Cailtlin had the perfect fall outfits picked out for the weather and the location. Speaking of weather, as we drove into Newport we noticed a crazy fog rolling in and then it started to drizzle. Not what you would consider prime photo conditions. Or so you’d think! It actually made for really unique photos. The light was soft and made everything kind of dreamy.

Of course, Caitlin and Chris are naturally good looking and romantic which didn’t hurt either. Win. Win for the Snappers!

This field was behind a shed and next to a tractor and a dumpster. Who would have thought it? The locations we chose often could be considered questionable if you are only looking at the big picture. In this case we ignored the backgrounds and zeroed in on the pretty textures and colors.

There wasn’t much left of the apples but the fog and the rows of trees were so cool.

LOVE this photo! I always like to choose a “Wall Worthy” photo from the session. This one is my pic. How cute would this be hanging in a dining room?! It could even be a special occasion piece that they’d take out and hang up from October through December. The festive pumpkins could be part of the holiday decor every year. I’d pair it with a rustic frame like one of our Beach/ Driftwood Frames and a soft creamy mat, maybe in a burlap or rough linen. That would be fabulous!

I love how their bodies and arms for an “M” for Married.

We also had an outfit change to something a little more dressy and headed over to a historic neighborhood in Newport near Goat Island. Caitlin really wanted to capture a little flavor of the architecture. Check!

A nice way to end the session, strolling this charming little street and acting natural! Naturally.

Caitlin and Chris- thank you for such a fun afternoon and for being such sports about the drizzle. We can’t wait for the Spring and your big day! I know it will be so much fun, lots of laughing and gorgeous photos of two beautiful people!  XO Mariah and Trish
