It may have taken Kate and Clayton a while to get together but once they did, they planned their lovely spring wedding at OceanCliff in a matter of a few months!
Here’s the back “love” story..
The universe wanted Kate and Clayton to be together, that much is obvious. Kate broke up with a guy she was dating after a particularly great conversation with Clayton, when it occurred to her that they’d never shared a similar conversation with him. However, at that time, it did not occur to her that maybe she should just date Clayton! The thought must have been germinating though because when she had a free ticket to a Red Sox game, Clayton was the one she asked to go. Clayton doesn’t particularly care about baseball, but he wasn’t about to let Kate know that!
Clayton’s patience paid off, as he hit a home run when he proposed to Kate and she said YES!
How does one pull off planning a wedding this beautiful in just four months? They hire Pamela of PDR Events!

Kate wore her grandmother’s diamond earrings which she borrowed from her sister for her “something borrowed.” The blue handkerchief was her great grandmothers for “something old and something blue.” Her “something new” was a perfume she chose with Clayton and wore for the first time on the wedding day. She plans to wear it only on special occasions and to remember her wedding day. Incidentally, Clayton also chose a signature cologne. How romantic is that?!
Pure excitement!
Kate also wore her mother’s pearls.
Kate’s father got all choked up seeing her for the first time. That blue handkerchief came in handy.
Meanwhile, Clayton got ready nearby! Handsome!

K + C stayed at the Newport Lofts, here they are simultaneously heading to OceanCliff for their first look!
Kate told me, “We chose to do a first look because we wanted to share a special moment together before the day got too busy or crazy.” …
… “We were able to walk away for a few minutes and say a prayer together.
… “We’re really glad we did the first look as we were both anxious and excited and it was a very calming way to be with each other.”
I love this angle of the venue. It really shows the unique features of the beautiful architecture.
After Clayton and Kate’s photos we met the bridal party on the lawn for their formal and informal pics!
Sailboat, you complete me.
Kate was stunning in her Rosa Clara gown. The bridesmaids wore BHLDN and grey pashminas. Spring time lovely bouquets by Toni Chandler Flowers.
Love this of Kate and her mom. Twinning!
Very pretty ceremony details.
Kate was most excited for the ceremony, I think it shows.
Just as Kate was about to walk out the doors with her father, the sun came out making everything so warm and lovely.
Kate is a lucky girl to have a wonderful husband and a father who adores her. She told me {about walking down the aisle}, “I’m following one great man to another great man.”
Enjoying the sun, the moment, and a prayer for the newly married couple. Kate and Clayton exchanged their vows on the exact spot Clayton proposed four months earlier.
Maybe Kate is thinking of all the amazing conversations she and Clayton will have.
Married!
This is the flower girl, Ivy with her new Aunt Kate and her best friend Pup. Ivy told me that Pup was going to walk with her down the aisle because “Actually he’s a little worried, he doesn’t know how to throw the flowers.”
She couldn’t be any cuter. And in case you were wondering, she and Pup were awesome as flower girl and flower dog.
Clayton and Kate’s signature cocktail was the “Claytlyn” – lemonade and bourbon (their favorite)! The name came from the combo of their names which the FOB started calling them even before they started dating.
Kate and Clayton- this is sort of off topic, but remember when you shared a mini bourbon after your first look? I tucked the empty little bottle into my jacket pocket {so you wouldn’t have it in your hand for photos} and forgot about it… until a week or so later it went flying out on the counter at the grocery store when I was looking for my grocery card. I got a funny look from the kid bagging my groceries. Ha-ha!
Well that menu will make your mouth water. Clayton and I bonded during his visit to Snap HQ when we discovered that cooking with the person we love is at the top of both of our priority lists. We agree that preparing and sharing a meal with the one you love is really special. It’s one of my favorite things about being married!
Toni brought the spring time indoors with these arrangements.

The big entrance! Kate and Clayton say that a real highlight moment for them was watching their wedding party before they went into the reception because they were all planning their entrances and they {K+C} were able to enjoy the laughter and excitement of their favorite people.
Kate and Clayton took dancing lessons, so cute. They were nervous about the dance and Kate thought she might trip over her dress, but they nailed it!
Their song was Hung the Moon by Drew Holcomb + The Neighbors Lyrics, the words are so fitting…
I like the way you know that dance
I like the way you hold my hand
Just spin me all across the floor
Yeah, I like the way you know that dance
I love a good toast, it always makes for a great photo full of expression!
Wise advice from Kate and Clayton, “Take time to enjoy the wedding while it’s happening. We tried to stop at least three times during the evening to look around and take it all in and remember! After, take a few minutes to talk about the moments you enjoyed most so they stay locked in your memory.”
I would like to add to that, take a few moments to dance in the sunset.
Oh, and take a few moments to smooch.
Something tells me Kate and Clayton {Claytlyn} aren’t going to have any trouble having fun and making memories to last the rest of their lives!
Congratulations K + C, we couldn’t be happier for you both. You truly found your perfect match. XOXO Mariah and Trish
P.S. Super fun photobooth provided by Photobooth Planet!
