The best thing about Newport Beach House? The Beach, natch’.
Photos by Mariah and Trish: Owner Team
Rob and Shannon had a very defined vision for their wedding at Newport Beach House. Photos and video were SUPER important to them, so they wanted to do all of their photos prior to the ceremony to maximize their party time. They wanted LOTS of candids- especially of the two of them. Lastly, they wanted a natural, easy breezy, not-fussy, beach feel to the whole day.
Shannon and Rob rented this fabulous house a stones-throw from Third Beach. It was perfectly appointed, and really complemented the modern aesthetic of their wedding at Newport Beach House. It’s pleasing when the style of the getting-ready-photos location matches the venue location and overall vibe of the day. Photo-wise {and more importantly wedding album-wise}, the similarity makes the transitions between the locations seamless!
The house is called Whitecaps, if you are looking for an amazing place to stay that can fit all your peeps and is steps from the beach, this is it!
Shannon got ready in this awesome light-filled room upstairs.
So bridal!
Who wouldn’t love to have a son like this?!
Crazy for this photo of Rob that Trish took.
This is fantastic. LOL
Time for the first look- got to get the groom in place.
The anticipation is real. 🙂
Rob and Shannon were high-school sweethearts in Long Island. They say the little beach town they grew up in reminds them of Newport.
How cute is this first look?
These guys are happiest just like this.
The epic family and bridal party portrait!

Gorgeous Florals from Joshua at Fresh Foraged Designs
After our family and bridal party photos were done we hit the beach.
… And got photo bombed by some motorcycle enthusiasts. Ha!
The blue!
We had the beach to ourselves.
Let the romance begin! <3
Shannon really wanted candid photos with Rob. I think we got a lot of great variety! The in-between portraits moments are the best time to get those.
Love all of these shots, but especially the top right!
Could have stayed at the beach all day, but we had another beach to get to.
Trish had the fantastic idea to photograph the letters in Newport Beach House to spell Shannon and Rob. She’s so clever!
The outdoors was so pretty, it would have to be pretty special inside to lure us in for photos… and it was! Freshly Foraged working their magic.
Almost ceremony time…
Shannon and Rob incorporated a cool wedding tradition from Rob’s Swiss heritage, sawing a log! The log represents the first obstacle the newlyweds must overcome. They work together using the long saw to successfully cut the log in two.
Here come the wedding guests! Exciting!
…And we’re off!
Trish laid on the ground to get this shot. For a minute I thought she had fallen over {not unusual for her}, but then I realized there was a method to her madness.
Shannon seemed annoyed by the wind blowing her veil around, but that’s only because she didn’t know what epic shots Trish was getting.
Wind + Veil = Good
Can we get a {cute} witness?
Tackling that first marriage obstacle like nobody’s business. No problem for these two cross-fitters.
Married!
Cocktail time
How pretty are these farm tables?
Unveiling the room for the guests – love this photo!
I wonder if these high-school sweeties went to the prom together?
Welcome toast.
We stepped outside for a little fresh air in-between courses.
It wasn’t quite sunset, but the sun was starting to get low and the light was getting dreamy.
You’ve got to steal those little moments when you have a chance.
Back inside for more reception action.
We even managed a few more golden romance photos and some beach-twirling.
Photo’d out. Rob … tie undone, jacket off… it’s a wrap!
Shannon and Rob- You guys are so crazy for each other, it was a dream to photograph you! Thank you for such a fun and personal day! XO Mariah and Trish
