Kate and Ryan’s Wedding at Oceancliff, Newport Rhode Island

October 16, 2013

“Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity.” ~ Albert Einstein

Two good looking smarty pants pharmacy students meet each other in college. What happens next? Chemistry {literally and figuratively}. What happens after that? A wedding…and a fabulous one at that! Kate {a girl with a flair for organizing and planning} measured the perfect mix of Newport Nautical accents to create this stunning soiree. We’re crazy for all Kate’s anchor, compass, rope, and sailboat touches. We especially love Kate and Ryan’s nod to their pharmacy school beginnings in the beakers they used for their sand ceremony- so clever! Toni Chandler created the lovely blue and green hydrangea arrangements and bouquets. Kerri of Sweet Indulgence dazzled us with yet another over the top amazing dessert bar and cake in Kate’s signature colors. Kate’s beautiful hair was done by Renew Salon and her makeup was done by Jennifer Hodge of Spectrum Makeup Artistry. And of  course it’s always a treat to Snap it up at Oceancliff, especially on a day as pretty as this one. Thanks to Victor from Victor Events too for his unique musical reception stylings.

Here’s another fitting chemistry quote for you…
“If you have chemistry, you only need one other thing. Timing. But timing’s a bitch.” ~author unknown … which leads us to our next installment of “BEHIND THE SNAPS” …a lesson in TIMING.

Trish and I have a very technical term for the way we process our photos for the blog to make them have that special snap-something that makes people ask, “Why do your photos look SO GOOD?!” The technical term I am referring to is “jazzing”.

Every once in a while, the stars align and the TIMING falls right into place with the weather and when that happens the photo gods shine down on us. Kate and Ryan’s day was one such day. On days like this, the photos need no jazzing  post production because as Trish likes to say, “They were jazzed by Jesus.” If you would also like a photo miracle on your wedding day then read on my friends…

I’m not sure if Kate and Ryan knew what they were doing when they planned the timing of their ceremony and formal photos with the sunset, but if I had to guess I’d say YES they did. They are both smarty pants, remember? The optimum “Jesus jazzing” time is approximately in the one hour leading up to sunset. Sunset on September 6th, was 7:21 pm. I went back and checked the metadata {fancy I know} and discovered this next photo was taken at 6:35 pm. Perfect time for getting jazzy. The sun is low and it’s starting to get a little orangey. Dreamy!

Things are about to get even better because next we hop on the trolley and cruise down the road to Brenton Point for a few pics of Ryan and Kate on the water. Kudos to Ryan and Kate for giving up a chunk of their cocktail hour to make these next photos happen. Would you like to look like Kate in the sunset {a.k.a. an Angel here on Earth?} then plan to be outside 33 minutes before sunset. This shot was taken at 6:48 pm.

At this point, we’re running out of light at time so we decide to call it wrap, but not before we swing around and catch the beautiful blue sky that is opposite our sunset. 6:53 pm. Thank You Jesus.

Disclaimer: We are thanking Jesus for his jazzing, although we are Non- Denominational here at Snap! So, thank you to any higher beings out there that looked down on us on September 6th and showered us with photo magic.

I’m sorry but I can’t resist a few more chemistry puns…

  1. Barbara Corvello says:

    beautiful!

  2. Kate Croasdale says:

So in love!!! Jazz or no jazz, it takes incredible talent to create these magnificent photographs. You are amazing!!! (ps- love the chemistry references!)
