Katie + Nick’s Rainy Castle Hill Wedding

June 11, 2013

There were so many great moments at Katie + Nick’s wedding it would be hard to single one out as the very best. On their own Katie and Nick are stellar individuals but together they are AMAZING! Katie is all sunshine, and sass. She’s girly, she’s fierce, she’s funny, she’s sweet. Nick is strong, he’s sensitive, he’s thoughtful, he’s a captain in the Marines with two tours in Afghanistan under his belt. Katie and Nick together… watch out! They are an inspiration and an example. They are fine friends, and excellent children. They are in short, people you’d be luck to know. We’re so impressed with their commitment and dedication to each other. There’s nothing but sunny skies ahead for this helicopter pilot and his beautiful wife even on their rainy Castle Hill wedding day.

If I had to pick a favorite moment from the day, it would probably be Nick surprising Katie with a second diamond band in the limo right after their ceremony. Her expression{s} were priceless! This is especially fabulous because it’s my impression that Katie is not a girl easily surprised as she is a meticulous planner.

Speaking of surprises, the best surprise for us was all of the photos we were able to take outside. This day was monstrous. Freezing would be putting it mildly. You’d think it was November! The rain was relentless except for the 1 hour we needed for photos {Thank You!} The wind was nasty the entire day. When we went to Bretton Point for photos on the beach we almost ditched the idea because it was so horrible. We thought Katie might get blown out to sea! At the very least we’d though she’s look like a drowned rat with ruined hair {kudos to the Jennie Kay team for hair and makeup that would not quit!} Katie was determined to have the ocean in the background of her photos so of course we obliged. Well, when Katie sets her mind to something she gets it, and was she ever right! My favorite photo from the day was taken in the worst possible conditions {see directly below}.

This looked and felt like a HOT MESS but you’d never know it. Did you know that on movie sets they water down the ground because the reflection of the street lights and headlights on the ground make the movie looks so much richer? We remembered that and had the limo driver park behind them and leave his lights on. Voila! Instant drama!

We want to thank Jamie Nelson of Eventfully Planned for her INVALUABLE service as day of coordinator, if ever there was a day for a competent coordinator this was it. Also BIG acknowledgement to Flowers by Semia for her romantic bouquets and for transforming the tent with such a pleasing soft palette and candlelight. Not to mention that escort table, wowza! Shout out to Meg Simone for working along side us shooting video so seamlessly. And last but not least, all of our friends at Castle Hill in particular Joslin and Jeremy who rock the reception and take such great care of everyone {including us, vegan divas} You’re the best!
