Quintessential New England locations, timeless fashion and elegant decor … yes, this event had it all and then some! However, what makes this event a classic Castle Hill wedding in Newport is the lovely people involved and their sweet family traditions. Summers spent in Narragansett and Newport are a tradition for them, making it very meaningful to plan Tessa’s wedding here. Tessa is the second daughter in the family and we also photographed her sister Nell in Newport several years ago. It seems having the Snap Girls document your day is also a family tradition. Lucky us!
Tessa’s mother Ann is an amazing wife, mother, and wedding planner extraordinaire. This is a woman who knows how to plan a party! She was so proud to see Tessa in her beautiful gown.
Anne wanted us to take a portrait of Tessa, recreating her own wedding portrait. This was so fun for us. I think we perfected the pose and the lighting. Tessa’s expression is a bit more smiley, but it couldn’t be helped, she was beaming!
A classic bridal portrait? Yes, that’s a wedding and family tradition we can get behind!
P.S. I would love to give credit to the original photographer of Anne’s portrait but don’t know who it was. All I can say is, lovely work!
Here’s our sweet and adorable groom Brendan getting a little help from his mother, Marie with his bow tie.
I have a semi-grown man/son {he’s 18} myself and looking at this photo I can’t help but wonder how many times Marie has done this for Brendan. I’ve tied ties for middle school dances, high school proms… and I always wonder if someday I’ll be adjusting Jacques’ tie at his wedding. I wonder how I will feel when that day finally comes.
I hope I will remember to savor it because it will probably be the last time I get to do it…. waaaah!
Vibrant, fashionable women seem to run rampant in this family. This is Tessa’s grandmother Frances. She decorated her hat herself. She’s my new style icon!
Nothing says Newport wedding like St. Mary’s Church, site of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F Kennedy’s wedding in September of 1953. It just so happens that Tessa is also soon to be a Mrs. Kennedy!
Giving your daughter away must be a lot easier when you hand her to a man like Brendan.
Adorable sneaky glances during the ceremony.
St Mary’s really is spectacular.
Nothing says “classic wedding” more than these two images.
Lovely windy portraits at Castle Hill. Tessa’s Oscar de la Renta gown and cathedral veil was delightfully billowy.
A sweet {and fragrant!} portrait in the garden under the Rose of Sharon tree.
Brendan surrounded by his favorite ladies.
Now THIS is a family portrait! One of my favorites of all time, complete with sassy grandmother and hollering baby!
Adorable honey jars served as place cards and favors.
The florals are by Stoneblossom.
Sharing a first dance under the tent. Got to love the long {romantic} evenings of summer!
Tessa’s father Creighton, officially welcoming Brendan into their family.
The cake table was decorated with photographs from family weddings. Cake by Confectionery Designs.
Creighton, the FOB, taking his little girl for a spin on the dance floor.
A few end of evening photographs. Sunsets and sailboats are certainly must haves at a classic Castle Hill wedding in Newport but the fireworks were an added bonus!
BEHIND THE SNAPS
The Kennedys at St Mary’s Church, 1953 and 2016. The iconic photo on the left is from LIFE Magazine and was photographed by Lisa Larsen. LIFE sent the young photographer, then in her late 20’s to cover the wedding. I think she was definitely ahead of her time in terms of wedding photography! However, the location, the gorgeous couple, gown, flowers, pose… some things don’t ever change.
Tag team snapping, it’s what we do. Trish is on detail duty.
Driving out to the lighthouse is always a highlight of the day. This time we were in for a treat, Castle Hill’s very own Emily was in the driver’s seat!
Trish taking a mini portrait of Nell, former Snap bride and new mom!
And last but certainly never least, our good friend Corin of Flipside Band. Ever the snappy dresser, always with a happy demeanor, guaranteed to make your party most excellent!
Tessa and Brendan,
Thank you for continuing the tradition and having us document another crazy fun Condon wedding! Thank goodness there’s one more Condon girl left! No pressure Maeve, but seriously… we must have a trifecta!
XOXO Mariah and Trish
We couldn’t have done any of it without you guys, the photos turned out absolutely spectacular! We will definitely be keeping up this family tradition 🙂
